2nd Annual Victims Rights Fair


The Second Annual Victims’ Rights Activity Fair was held on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at the Upper Valley Mall. The event was to call attention to April's designation as Child Abuse Prevention Month and the week of April 13-19 as National Crime Victims Rights Week. The goal was to present resources for crime victims in a fun way, not stigmatized.

Giovanna Alvarez of Casa Amiga, who reaches out to the growing Hispanic community of Clark county by offering a welcoming environment where the bilingual and bicultural staff know how ot overcome cultural and language barriers that impede integration into the community.
Megan Brown and Jen Rohrer of the Department of Jobs & Family Services, promoting various programs that the agency offers the community. Kids also had an opportunity to get involved in some crafts.
Nicole Rummell (left) and Debbie McCullough of On the Rise, a community organization that provides mentoring and tutoring for at-risk students in a 4-H type setting. You can contact them at 964-1402.
Leslie Kleen of the Clark County Child Advocacy Center, a community partnership of caring professionals working together, in one location, to help children and their families cope with child physical and sexual abuse. They're located on the grounds of the Childrens' Home. Call them at 327-3751.
Sharon Dowen of Oesterlen Services for Youth, offering emotional and behavioral health services for children, adolescents and their families. Oesterlen has a broad array of services ranging from community counseling for youth and their families to secure residential treatment.
Mary Ellen Beekman (left) and Robyn Smith of Mental Health Services, providing treatment and rehabilitation services to those in Clark and Madison Counties whose lives are disrupted by emotional struggles, substance abuse and dependency, behavioral difficulties, severe mental illness, and those who are on a journey of recovery.

Leslie Crew of the Rocking Horse Center, with a with a goal of providing comprehensive health care to children regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay for enhanced medical services. They have just recently expanded their services to adults.
Shelley Kabbes and Teresa Channels of Help Me Grow, a program of the Clark County Combined Health Department for expectant parents, newborns, infants and toddlers that provides health and developmental services so children start school ready to learn.
Sara Garten of Project Woman, offering programs for victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Clark, Champaign and Logan counties.
Rachel Klopfer of Consumer Credit Counseling Services, a local, non-profit credit counseling agency that has helped people in the Miami Valley solve their credit and debt problems since 1980. CCCS provides you with the support, knowledge and tools needed to make informed financial decisions.
Entertainment was provided by the Bucket Band and by Exodus Dancers, both are outreaches of Project Jericho.
