I was born in Springfield, Ohio. As a young girl, music was a very big part of my life. Our family traveled and sang in a group called The Freedom Gospel Singers of which I was the lead singer. Our performances included singing at local churches and WIZE on Sunday night broadcasts. My dad had a deep love for music which inspired my love for singing.
I was married in 1980 to a wonderful man, my best friend, Steve Knisley, who is very supportive of my singing career.

In 1981 my dad was killed in a tragic bicycle accident at age 45 which devastated our family. Because he was the strength and leader of our family, it took some time for me to be able to return emotionally to my singing career.
My first album, Crossroads, includes two songs I wrote, “Crossroads” and “I’m Letting Go”. These songs portray the tragic loss of my father, and the healing touch of giving it to God and moving forward.

I opened for Ivan Parker (associated with the Gaithers) at the Rosedale Bible Institute. My older brother, Dan Short gave me the melody for the third song I wrote “Who Would of Thought”, which I hope to release on a Christmas album.
I entered the North American Country Music Association International state competition in 2001 in Columbus, Ohio and won first place and qualified for national competition at Louise Mandrell’s Theater in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. At this competition in 2002 I won 1st place Female Vocalist of the Year New Gospel.

My second album, “From Me to You” includes a song in memory of my grandmother, “She’s Gone But Not Forgotten”.

Most recently I have been working on a couple of songs which include one about leaving for war titled “Tell Me Now That You Love Me” and another about wishing to talk to a loved one who has passed away, “If I Could Just Call Heaven and Talk to You”.
