14th Annual Old Fashioned Country Fireworks

The National Trails Parks & Recreation District presented the 14th Annual Old Fashioned Country Fireworks display on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at the Clark County Fairgrounds. Several thousand were in attendance despite overcast skies that gave the indication of a downpour at any minute.

National Trails has presented the display for years, but this year funding was a problem and jeopardized this years' display. County Commissioner John Detrick, City Commissioner Dan Martin and others sought donations from the community to keep the tradition going.

The evening began with a concert by local favorite Gene Bowshier & the StoneHart Band, presented by Competition Accessories and Kiss Country. The band perfomed a variety of songs, including one made famous by Gene's dad, Donnie Bowshier.

Mark Miller, Special Projects Coordinator for NTPRD, said he was glad to be able to have Rozzi's Famous Fireworks presenting the display. "They're about the best around. And the 4th is their busiest day of the year, so we've had them on the third every year."

Donors who made the 14th Annual Old Fashioned Country Fireworks display possible are A&B Asphalt Corporation; Anthony Lodge #455 F.&A.M.; Dave & Phyllis Arthur; BPOE #51; Benjamin Steel Co.; Bennett, Groeber, Mullen & Feltner; Bill Marine Auto Center; Building Industry Association - Clark County; Buffalo Wild Wings - BW3; C&N Industrial Contractors; Carpenters Local Union #712; Catholic Healthcare Partners; Clark, Schaefer, Hackett & Co.; Consolidated Insurance Agency; Mayor Warren Copeland; Della Selsor Trust; Demmy Construction, Inc.; Springfield City Commissioner Karen Duncan; Eagle Beverage Co.; Eagle Tool & Machine Co., Inc.; Guy Ferguson, Municipal Clerk of Courts; Fifth Third Bank; Foreman Blair Pontiac-Buick-GMC-Cadillac, Inc.; Gordon Food Service; H.
