Clark County Fair - Style Show

The Homemakers 2008 Style Show was held Thursday, July 24 in the Arts & Crafts Building, sponsored by Clark County Homemakers & Community Education. All clothing in the show was hand-made.

There were 12 categories: Clothes for Kids, Kids Elementary, Special Sewing Techniques, Daytime Dress, Suit or Ensemble, Vest, Lounge & Sleepwear, Sportswear, Semi Formal Wear, Formal Wear, Period Costume and Children Halloween.

Carol Judge took Best of Show, the People's Choice Award and First Place for Period Costume with her Civil War-era dress. "I wanted a dress for a re-enactment and I was tired of the stock costumes," said Judge. "I found an old tintype of this dress and loved it, so I designed it from that old tintype." It took her a month to design it and about three months to sew it. The dress was completely hand-sewn - no sewing machine. She uses the dress for historical reenactments with the 4th Ohio Voluntary Infantry Co. B
