Dwight Christopher In Concert with The Blackwoods

Local Singer-Songwriter Dwight Christopher appeared in concert with The Blackwoods on Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Maiden Lane Church of God.

Dwight invited us to cover the concert, and we were pleased to help promote a local boy made good.

Ron Blackwood, leader of The Blackwoods, acted as Emcee for the evening, and started by entertaining the crowd with his well-developed sense of humor. When he announced a special on Blackwoods CD's, nearly 50 people immediately left for the lobby to make their purchases.
The first act to perform was "Bound For Glory", comprised of Robin Davis, Susie Hatch, Michelle Davis and Dave Nash.
Dwight performed several numbers from his new gospel CD, backed up by his wife, Cherry, and by friend and co-writer Jerry Newport.
Dwight performed a song with The Blackwoods - Ron Blackwood said that it was due to be released nationwide. They received a standing ovation, and Dwight was visibly moved by the crowd's appreciation.
The Blackwoods performed old standards, and some new ones, too.
They took the occasion to introduce their new bass singer, Rick Fair. This was Rick's first public performance with The Blackwoods.
