Culture Fest 2008

The 12th Annual CultureFest, a community festival that celebrates the ethnic and cultural diversity of Springfield and Clark County was held Saturday, September 27, 2008 on City Hall Plaza downtown.

The festival is coordinated by the City’s Department of Human Relations, Housing and Neighborhood Services, with community input through a Steering Committee, and various planning committees that attend to the areas of public relations, volunteers, fundraising, entertainment, vendors, logistics and education.

CultureFest featured dozens of vendors and community organizations, as well as live entertainment at two locations and strolling entertainment throughout the plaza.

Mayor Warren Copeland read a proclamation dedicating CultureFest 2008 to Mike Crockett, a driving force behind the fest since its inception. Crockett will be retiring from the City at the end of January, 2009.

Different cultural backgrounds, but when the National Anthem is played, everyone's and American.
