It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon and I had to get away from the computer for a while. So I grabbed my camera and went out to burn up some $2.50 per gallon gas.
I've lived in Springfield for 32 years and have never been to George Rogers Clark Park. I figured that was a good place to start.

This used to be part of Wittenberg Ave. One bridge would carry the street over Cliff Park Road, and another would carry it over Buck Creek. Between the two was solid ground. |
You can still see part of the curb and sidewalks. But nature has reclaimed the rest. This is atop the mound behind the Springfield Museum of Art. |
