William E. Thomas Sr.

William E. Thomas Sr., 87, of Springfield, died at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2009 in Pathways at the Ohio Masonic Home. He was born February 7, 1922 in Springfield, OH to Drue and Maybelle (Pickett) Thomas. Bill retired as a computer analyst with International Harvester after 40 years of service. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, former member of K of C Council 3737 and was an avid golfer.

Survivors include his wife, Joann (Leary); nine children and spouses, Carol (Dan) Navin, Marysville, OH, Sue (Ed) Wynn, Vero Beach, FL, Jean (Bob) Mitch, William Thomas, Jr., Springfield, Jerry Thomas, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Jim Thomas, Springfield, Dick (Ruth) Thomas, Vero Beach, FL, Ann Pencil and Pat Komar, Beavercreek, OH; grandchildren, Andrea Navin, Bill Navin, Marcy Boggs, Marlo McCoy, Bob Mitch, Casey Mitch, Jerome Thomas, Erica Thomas, Shay Thomas, Alissa Thomas, Danielle Thomas, Brittany Pencil, Alex Komar and Nick Komar; Great grandchildren, Jake Boggs, Chelsey Boggs and Drew Mitch; a sister, Marguerite Brinkman; sisters in law, Anna Marie Rizer and Jeanne Leary, Springfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Robert in 2005; three sisters, Martha Berg, Rosetta Brinkman and Marrie Lantz; and two brothers, Byron and Drue Thomas.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the Springfield Masonic Community.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in St. Teresa Church.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Mass in the church.

Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
