Carris M. Williams, age 102, left his worldly home to be with the lord unexpectedly on November 21,2009 in Community Hospital, Springfield, Ohio. Born April 2,1907 in Yellow Springs to the late Pearl and Lizzie Williams. Carris worked at Crowell-Collier as a pressman for several years before it closed and then was employed at Wright Patterson AFB in aircraft maintenance for 26 years where he retired. He was a 25 year member of NARFE and belonged to the Springfield Ostomy Society. He was lately a member of the First United Methodist Church of New Carlisle but, was a faithful member of the Yellow Springs First United Methodist Church for many years before moving to New Carlisle after the death of his wife Audrey.
Carris was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Audrey Reed, three brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Donald and Viola Williams and granddaughter Robin and husband Steve Burleson and their children Zachary and Emily, all of Troy, grandson Mark C. Williams and wife Samantha of Cincinnati and many nieces and nephews. One sibling, Homer (Jim) of Yellow Springs survives. He also had three step-grandchildren, Debra Walters, Pamela Reid and Michael Reid of New Carlisle, their children and grandchildren.
A gathering of family & friends will be held from 11:00 a.m., Tuesday until time of serviceas at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday in the JACKSON LYTLE WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME, 322 Xenia Ave., Yellow Springs, with Rev. Jeff Burdsall officiating.
Burial will follow in Glen Forest Cemetery.
Contributions may be made in Carris's name to either of the churches or to the Cancer or Leukemia Society.
