Ask the Mayor

Your Government in Action

March 7, 2007

Jackie Lee of Springfield asks,
"Dear Mayor,
I am writing this letter to find out some information reguarding a filer I recived in the mail to day saying that the area for the new hospital may be extended farther west my self would not have an issue moving and giving up my home for the new hospital, but there are soem people that may. If you could please answer my question it would be greatly apprieciated
Thank You for your time,
Jackie Lee "

Mayor Copeland replies,
"THANK YOU FOR ASKING!!

There is absolutely no basis for this flier. Neither the city nor the hospital has any plans to expand beyond Yellow Springs. There are plans to encourage impovements in your neighborhood led by the Neighborhood Housing Partnership, a non-profit group that works to improve neighborhoods in Springfield. None of these efforts will require anyone to move. Instead, they should make your neighborhood a better place to live.

If you or your neighbors have any further questions, feel free to contact Shannon Meadows at City Hall (324-7300). She is in charge of land acquisition for the hospital project.

Again, thanks for asking!

Warren Copeland "
