Shannon of South Vienna asks,

"I was wondering how the city dealt with stray animals. What shelter are they sent to? Are there any animal catchers that work specifically in South Vienna, and is there anything we can do to help prevent the amount of stray animals in the community?"

Mayor Copeland replies,

"The County is in charge of dog control. No one is clearly in charge of cats. The Humane Society has a contract with the County to be the dog catcher in both Springfield and South Vienna. Check with them or if that does not work call a County Commissioner.
